Lamora was founded by the Lamorse Royals hundreds, maybe even thousands, of years ago. It was a safe haven for all Sessians who were fearful of coexisting in a world they couldn’t fight back in—a place they could be free from the Others and live a life of blissful peace.

The Queen organized a group of architects to use their specialized Vrils to carve out the caverns and cave system that would become the marvellous city—and the epicentre of a brewing civil war.

The city streets are narrow, only six metres wide (roughly twenty feet), and the houses and businesses attached were as big as mansions or as small as broom closets! Each house was unique to its owner, designed with personal flourishes and flair. The shops and markets were just as individual, reflecting the personalities of both the owners and their wares.

Although there was no direct access to sunlight, crafty technicians developed a system of floating lights that mimicked the properties of the sun. This system dosed the citizens with warmth, vitamin D, and light—and even dimmed at dusk to create a comforting day–night cycle.

The citizens of Lamora wore their royal pride on their sleeves. The Lamorse colours were pastel pink, blue, yellow, and white, and their royal crest was the Sessian dragon—a magnificent beast with feathers and elk-like antlers. These banners decorated the ceiling. No one remembers if the creature ever truly existed or was merely legend, but the loyalists hold these colours—and the dragon—dear to their hearts.

Fountains and wells could be found at every intersection, along with signs indicating the nearest healer and the distance to the castle.

It was a peaceful city, full of happiness, art, and joy.

–Or at least it was, until the Shulk attacked—led by their nefarious leader, Hexil.

Determined to destroy the royal family once and for all, not even the young princes were spared from the onslaught. And when the Shulk were through with their raid, there wasn’t much left of the once-beautiful city but rock, ash, and debris.

Well, that’s what everyone says…
